But users of the paper version know that updates are issued annually, in the form of slip pages, that incorporate all the latest and greatest in the subject area. For this Kindle version, there's no such accommodation. Instead, users who want the latest and greatest will need to buy A NEW KINDLE VERSION EACH YEAR, at full price. That's expensive. Too, you'll need to do that manually, as in setting a reminder a year in advance to buy the new version when it comes out. It's still about the most thorough legal reference on the subject out there, but to get it, you'll have to decide between two disappointing choices: the full-price e-version that has a 12-month shelf life, or the non-portable paper version with higher initial cost and annual updates that occupy valuable staff time to manage. There's got to be a better way to do this, for both PLI and its customers. (I'm not sure how the annual update service works if the paper versions are originally purchased on Amazon, rather than directly from PLI.)
