About the Author PETE SIMMONS is a retired journalist (newspapers, radio, TV), having spent more than 40 years working around the world for major American TV networks. With vast experience in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, he has witnessed the worst - and the best - in humankind. This has given him a critical, if not cynical, outlook on life. He is an ordained minister in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and currently lives in Boise, Idaho, where he can regularly escape human activities by fleeing into the surrounding rugged mountains.

Perverted Verse: Doggerel for the Disillusioned [Pete Simmons] on Amazon.com is a funny, irreverent and sometimes off color collection of the author’s perspectives on the worlds of politics, religion and aging after years of raging. Those of us who have had the pleasure of knowing and working with him are not unfamiliar with the author’s take on the shape of the world and look forward to the first impressions of new admirers. This collection is a fast ride through the brain of one of the best television news journalists I have known. It is not going to be polite society’s cup of tea, nor political professionals and certainly not the devoutly religious. It’s for the rest of us…today’s silent majority.

At a time when sentimentality infuses everything, including the news, this is a wonderful, and often very funny, cold shower.
