Heather and David meet in an unlikely place, a state behavioral health facility. We explore their relationship as it develops through letters and Heather's thoughts. Her thoughts are tainted with delusions but become more clear and reality-based as she emerges from psychosis. Clippings from a Bipolar Journal By domini The reason I gave this 4 stars was because I wanted to read more, know more, feel more about this condition and Heather Kane's unique perspective on it, her ability to step back and convey, in most startling terms, most graphic detail, what it is like to have this experience, of bipolar disorder, the impact on her and her family. I was both inspired and in awe of not only the detail of her experience, but her willingness to weave it into her life as a creative masterwork and thereby share it with us, with others who have this disorder and with those who want and need to know more about it because of it's proximity to them from loved ones or even acquaintances. I learned that I, too, can resonate with her experience, her 'dysfunction', because in some ways, I/we all carry the seeds of these delusions, some sprouted, some in full bloom.

She explains how it feels to suffer from a mental disease and how it has affected the whole of her life, and now the life of her child and husband too. What I didn't like was the abundance of personal letters in the book. After a point it became too much to read so many letters.I would recommend this book highly to anyone wanting to know more about bi-polar disease and its effects on your daily life.
