Clippings from a Bipolar Journal By domini The reason I gave this 4 stars was because I wanted to read more, know more, feel more about this condition and Heather Kane's unique perspective on it, her ability to step back and convey, in most startling terms, most graphic detail, what it is like to have this experience, of bipolar disorder, the impact on her and her family. I was both inspired and in awe of not only the detail of her experience, but her willingness to weave it into her life as a creative masterwork and thereby share it with us, with others who have this disorder and with those who want and need to know more about it because of it's proximity to them from loved ones or even acquaintances. I learned that I, too, can resonate with her experience, her 'dysfunction', because in some ways, I/we all carry the seeds of these delusions, some sprouted, some in full bloom.

She explains how it feels to suffer from a mental disease and how it has affected the whole of her life, and now the life of her child and husband too.What I didn't like was the abundance of personal letters in the book. After a point it became too much to read so many letters.I would recommend this book highly to anyone wanting to know more about bi-polar disease and its effects on your daily life.

Like other books in this series presentation is very coherent and easy to follow along with as most lessons span 2 pages and each of the lesson pages utilizes full color printing and actual screenshots to demonstrate the points on hand.Basic elements such as formatting, formulas, workbook management, tables and detailed instruction on prepping your sheets for accurate physical printing will get both newcomers and experienced users migrating from earlier versions quickly acclimated and in later chapters slightly more advanced topics are nicely presented such as pivot table basics, data analysis and visualizations. Overall a great walk through resource to help users of all stripes quickly familiarize themselves with Excel 2016's capabilities.

Great for a novice, but more advanced users go look elsewhere for more advanced options/technicalities within excel By Sincerely Yours I am pretty familiar with excel, and wanted something to help me brush up my knowledge with graphs, data and macros. Excel is a pretty complex product and is often under utilized. This book would help any beginners and I like the step instructions and pictures. Home business use to bring a presentation with graphs and pictures are pretty well laid out. A member of my family, who is not as savy with excel, found the book layout useful. It did not have a section on macros for me, and hence this is not for those who are more advanced and wants to know more about excel.

By Aaron Martin Not a book you would read cover to cover, but rather one you'd reference when needing to do something specific. Great illustrations, color coded tabs, and large font make reading this fast and easy. Product lost a star due to being a very basic book in every way; I was really hoping for more pro level tips and tricks to really get the most out of Excel rather than how to auto-fill a column sort of lessons.

An excellent guide on how to use Ruby for what it does best By Amazon Customer Manipulating text is one area where Ruby excels, and this book really plays to that advantage. The author states that any text processing script can be broken into three stages: first you get the text, then you apply some kind of transformation to it, then output the results. I like the way that the book is organised into three parts that go into great detail on each of these three stages.Part 1, Aquiring text, starts with the basics: reading from files or from standard input. And quickly moves on to how to extract data from CSV files, and scraping data from HTML files using the Nokogiri library.Part 2, Modifying and Manipulating Text, opens with an introduction to regular expressions (does every programming book have a chapter on regex?). Then it gets really meaty with a chapter on writing parsers, and another on natural language processing. I particularly enjoyed the section where the author demonstrates how to use the Parslet library to parse a Rich Text Format file.Part 3, Writing Text, starts again with the basics: writing to standard output, standard error, and to a file. Then it goes on to discuss serialising data to JSON, XML, or CSV formats. And the last chapter uses ERB to render templates into text files. Anyone who knows rails will be familiar with the ERB templating language, but I found it refreshing to see this used outside of a rails context.If you want to learn Ruby as your first programming language, this is not the first book that you should read on Ruby, but it would be a good choice as your second book. Or if you already know how to program and you want to add Ruby to your repertoire, then this would be a great place to start. I've been working with Ruby for 8 years and I picked up lots of new stuff. I wish I could have read this book years ago!

By GHajba Ruby has powerful libraries to get you started with text processing even if you are not familiar with the language. This book gives you a very detailed introduction into the ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) workflow, each one having its own part in the book. At the end you get a quick introduction on how to run apps if you really just get started.And if you ask where could you use text processing I would say website scraping as an example. And you'll find tools described in this book to accomplish your task.

There were no special courtship and marriage rituals in this book except one that is not used in America and other cultures. It was a dissapointment to us both as we were looking forward to a bit more exciting things to learn for our dating period and for our wedding, instead we simply turned to a friend who knows much more about the real ways of Ireland and between us and our studies of the old ways and the Christian ways we had a lovely courtship and wedding despite the books lack of information. The author needs a little less generalism and a little more resaearch and soaking in the cultures. All her books are too similar.I am sorry to say.

One not looking for more than a one nightstand they other isn’t sure what she is looking for. All it took was one look and the two were hooked, both fighting feelings from different sides of the track. This is a hot steamy read but not full of every sex act that they have, I liked that.Xander tries so hard to come off the bad boy but deep down he is a sweetie with a heart of a marshmallow. I really liked him but at times he wasn’t my favorite person. I know and understand where he is coming from. He is scared of giving his heart and having the one he loves walk out on him again. He said and does some very hurtful things but in the end he turns out to be an upstanding man. I just love his daughter she is a sweetie, so grow up for her age. She tells it like it is with so much love to give.Emily tries her best to walk away from Xander but the pull is just to strong before she knows it she is in over her head not knowing which way to turn. Emily is a very sweet girl but being a preacher daughter I didn’t expect her to have the mouth on her she had. She lost a lot of my respect when she talked to her parents the way she did. I just would never have thought she would have cursed so much around them.For me the story was to long, a lot could have been cute out and it would have made a much better read. There are a lot of repeats things said over and over again. It really was a lonely story but if you have a problem with the F word you aren’t going to care for it. It is uses A LOT. I thought the characters sounded much young than they were where Xander daughter seemed to be more adult than the adults.The things I did enjoy from the story were the compassion the two found, how Xander kept her safe and really did respect her. He found sometimes you need to say what you feel before it is to late. He has a lot to overcome with a very painful past. I loved the fact that he was up front from the start with all his women. I found him to be a very truthful person. Emily had a hard time sticking to her guns but when one is in love that is the way it is. She really is a wonderful caring person who gives so much of herself to so many. I adored Xander’s family they were the sweeties most caring giving people. There were some wonderful characters in all their friends. I even found myself chuckling a time or two. The title fits the story to a T and I love the cover. I am giving this a 3.65 and rounding it up to a 4 star. Both character grow and it does have a great ending.

The characters have everything against them and yet they fight to be together. Emily is innocents personified with a preacher father, coming from a small town where women had a certain place in the family home, and no real experiences. Xander is her complete opposite, he owns a bar, has a beautiful daughter, a family that supports his choices rather than stifles them, and sky's the limit on women as long as it is one night and leave them.What neither bargained for was meeting each other. Emily is able to burrow into Xander's thick protective hide all the while she is hiding how she feels about him. This is only the beginning and the easiest trial.I gotta say I enjoyed it. I felt it dragged on in a few places but made up for it in spades in others. I was completely gutted in one scene and she did it so well I still think about it. Well done on that one Shelly. It about made me throw my Kindle I was so upset. I felt crushed for Xander. This book has characters you will absolutely love, some you will want to smack, and others you just want to take the gloves off and throw down. A book that garners so many emotions is worth the mention, share and read! And just saying, Lance (drool) and Alexandria were the perfect choices for cover models!!**I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review

Love strikes when we least expect and not always the person you imagined. A typical love story with its less than smooth path but flows.

Short stories and poems that bring you back to a simpler time. The author brings her insight (from her 89 years of living) to numerous different topics throughout the book that are very insightful. Had a hard time putting this book down. Will reread it at a more leisurely pace the next time around!!

It is a book about family, about friends, about feelings, about hope, and most of all about love. Things that are very important to me. It is a feel good book written by a woman who loves life, therefore it was such a joy reading about hers. Much wisdom, honesty, and a lot of heart on every page. This is one of those books that with every page you are thinking; 'oh my gosh, this read is going much too fast!' My only complaint is that it was not long enough. Truly hoping that another is on her agenda!

Goodwater Ms Markland's wit and humor kept me turning the pages even when I knew I had to put my coffee down and start my day. The wisdom that she's gleaned from life is perfectly intermingled with humor, while her use of words reminds me a bit of Dr. Seuss--my childhood favorite. I would recommend this to readers of all ages, as it is a timeless compilation of a humorous yet sage look at life. My favorite will always be "Pocket Pleas".

About the Author Chaya Rosen, a daughter of Holocaust survivors, explores what she sees as the "silent sounds and shadows"--a legacy inherited by children of the post Holocaust era. Her life-long interest in the Holocaust has included teaching, participation in projects to interview survivors, and most recently, the founding of a forum for Second Generation artists: Art and Writings of Destruction and Repair. Chaya Rosen was born in Poland, before moving to Israel and later to the United States. In her efforts to retrace her family's roots, she managed to locate her parents' former homes, the ghetto from where they escaped several liquidation roundups, and the bunkers in the forest where they hid for two years. In the Shadow of God, her third poetry book is a thoughtful and self-reflective journey. The book continues the journey begun in Streaming Light and Scattered Stones, and captures the traumatic impact of loss and memory as it affects children of survivors. An expert in Knowledge Management, Chaya Rosen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Master of Science in Organizational Management.

Poetry of Loss By Sari Friedman Chaya Rosen writes of concentration camp survivors she knows and loves, delineating her anguish, showing her raw and unself-conscious ache. My favorite poem was "My Mother." I also felt the bitterness of "A Plan" and the inchoate grief of "Never Think About Her." A rough, loud cry of pain.

From the Author There are some crucial things that parents can do at home to support the education in the classroom. As teachers, we have limited influence over a child's healthy habits. I created this book to let parents know what they can be doing at home to promote their child's academic success. I incorporated some of the brain boosting health habits that I used to overcome my own neurological condition and eliminate my memory impairment. I realized that while we have a lot of remediation techniques and different methods of content presentation, if a student's brain isn't functioning optimally, learning will be more difficult. Not only will learning be more difficult, but the students may face discrimination in the workforce. As I wrote this book, I observed some of the habits, traits and differences between Honor Students and Learning Disabled students. I noticed what they did differently that supported a positive learning attitude and experience. My other books, Seizure Free: Addressing the Causes of Seizures Naturally, and Epilepsy Empowerment: Living an Exceptional Life with Epilepsy, focus on taking responsibility for your health and wellness and improving your life where you can. I used some of these concepts and applied them to my students' lives.

By adriant.esq I have the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Asperger's Syndrome (AS) and found this book very informative as I have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and they play silly buggers in my head with the signals travelling around in my brain, so I have severe learning, relating and communicating difficulties.But I regard them as my servants, not masters, and love them unconditionally and forgive them unconditionally, just as I love and forgive all my other secret invisible friends.I think that the author is too young to have reached the stage that I have, in her relationship with her mental disorders, but I, too, experimented with natural methods of controlling mine, and found what ones suited me best. Self hypnosis through yoga meditation was my saving grace in my teens, and stopped my suicide ideation and attempts, so I have been teaching it to others by advocacy, activism, coaching and counselling all of my life, and so intensively over the past 20 years that I'm now regarded as an expert and written bestsellers on Amazon and I blog in The Huffington Post, in addition to having my own websites and blogsites. So I have no doubt that we shall be 'hearing' from this lady a lot more in the very near future as she comes to grip with her talent for telling it like it is. It is for this reason more than any other that I have awarded this book five stars.My parents were poor, and I was born in war-time, so we didnt get much to eat, except what we could grow. I dont think the book will change my eating and drinking habits, as, having been born and raised in times of rationing, I eat and drink what's put in front of me. But it may well change the eating and drinking habits of my coaching and counselling clients when I tell them about it, and that will be a good thing. I'm not a smoothies man. That's because I don't have time to waste messing around in the kitchen. Every minute of my time is more precious to my clients than it is to me as I coach and counsel suicidal people, and am not going to risk loosing their lives so I can make myself silly probiotic packed kefirs with yucky fermented milk to poison my OCD/ADD/ADS/AS/. Sorry Melinda, curds and whey are for nursery rhymes (shudder) not people like me :) But I love and forgive you because you are on the side of the angels like me.

The author's voice is confident and compelling but, most of all, hopeful. The writing is direct and appealing both logically and emotionally. I like the organization. It is easy to follow. I have done some reading in various books on many of the topics the author discusses but she packs so much of this practical, relevant and useful information all in one place. This makes it a wonderful reference.I especially loved the creativity in the fourth chapter - for example, the suggestions to play affirmations for your child while he drifts off to sleep or exercises, the suggestion to flash affirmations onto the computer screen. And her gentle wisdom: "It is pleasurable to hear positive affirmations. We tend to do things that feel pleasurable more often." And "Encourage your child to learn the habits of high achievers."The discussion on how to enhance intuition and creativity through meditation was especially powerful.Melinda provides many wonderful ideas to strengthen our brainpower. There is something in this book for everyone: empathy, exercises, suggestions, explanations, resources. Boosting Brainpower is a treasure trove for Educators, School Psychologists and those interested in Psycho-Education By Louise Masin Sattler As a School Psychologist I was impressed by this comprehensive book that outlines much psycho-educational information regarding Learning Disabilities and related "challenges" - such as Attention Deficit Disorder. Unlike more technical journals or books, Melinda Curle presented the material in a more relatable manner that I felt could be of value to parents and educators. Many books will give long lists of how to make a child "better", but, this book spent several chapters thinking "out of the box" and by discussing the physical aspects of how a child learns. Emphasis was placed on topics such as nutrition, neurological/ brain building exercises and more.School Psychologists and teachers who work with children that are in need of changes to the way they learn may be the real winners from Boosting Brainpower as the information in this book can be included in to IEP goals, 504 plans or RTI (Response to Intervention) for program planning.Boosting Brainpower is a treasure trove for School Psychologists. Hopefully the author will make the speaker circuit to School Psychology and education conferences to share her insights.
