2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. just what it says - office for beginners By Jeanne Boyarsky If you've read my reviews before, you know I'm a programmer. This book is too easy for me. I had expressed interest in another Que book and the publisher sent me a bunch of books in the same box. That said, I did read it and this is a good book.I really like the format. It has several screenshots on each page with pointers, tips and examples. There are a sequence of steps on how to accomplish various tasks. I like that there was a tip on working on a mobile device.Almost everything was designed for beginners who have not used Office before. There were great tips for beginners and points were clearly explained. The glossary was great too.The only think that struck me was odd was the list of “new 2016 chart types.” If you knew what the old chart types were, you are way overqualified to read this book. I think this should have just been presented as a list of chart types. This book reminded me of the Windows/Office book that non-programmers used when taking a computer class in college. Good memories and a good book.---Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for writing this review on behalf of CodeRanch.

Nice graphical approach in the book By Paul Turpin I first started reading the book to determine if Office 2016 had enough new features to warrant and upgrade. The book has some information like that, but I would not buy the book if that is your purpose. The book succeeds at teaching how to use the Office 2016 products, though.I really like the colorful, graphical approach in the book. I have not seen another book on Office products like this one., I am a visual learner and the layout used in this book was extremely helpful to me. Each page of the book contains a screenshot withed number lists of steps pointing to locations on the screenshots. I also like the tip boxes at the bottom of every page. I have used other books containing hundreds of pages of boring text and little white space. I learned way more from this books graphical approach.I use Office products many times a day and I consider myself to be at least intermediate level with the Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPpoint. Even so, I picked up a number of tips from the book. I do not use OneNote nearly as often, so I learned many tips and will now become a more frequent user of OneNote, because of this book.
