About the Author Jayne Hyatt currently lives in Denver, Colorado. She is a lifelong bookworm who comes from a long line of storytellers. After many years of using her writing skills to do work-related technical writing, she now devotes her talents to writing contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels. Romance Simmers On The Front Burner By Elyse Bruce I have a paperback edition of this book (yes, some of us still read paperbacks) which I read in April, and again in June (because I like to read good books more than once). The main character finds herself betrayed shortly before her wedding day, and what could easily been turned into a book of anger and revenge becomes, instead, a book of hopeful beginnings and the promise of romance fulfilled. I found the characters in the book -- even the secondary characters -- to be realistic and true to what you would expect from them if they were real, from the children to the grandmother to the main character. I won't spill the beans by mentioning specific parts of the book, but suffice it to say that Jayne Hyatt delivers a book that doesn't disappoint readers. I definitely recommend this book to other readers.
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Loved it! By Suzi Q Suzette loses her fiancé, her job, her home, and even her Facebook friends, all in one fateful afternoon. Deciding she has no choice but to start over, she loads up her SUV and heads for Denver, leaving Los Angeles and her old life behind.The heart of the story is about how she figures out and comes to terms with the realization that she was in an abusive relationship. Fortunately, there’s a full cast of interesting, well drawn, characters, to help her find her way, and learn what true love is all about.This book treats a serious subject with humor and respect, never being preachy or heavy handed. And it has a great, satisfying 'happy ever after'. I recommend it.

When Suzette's life seems to fall apart, with her seemingly losing everything dear to hear in one day, she never loses heart. It's amazing to me that she doesn't become bitter or get stuck in despair after catching her fiancé cheating on her with her best friend. Instead of dwelling on the wrong done to her, or the pain she's experienced, she opens her heart to new experiences, and decides to move to Denver, where her mother lives. Eventually, she begins to realize that her ex had been a manipulator, and that she had made herself into a totally different person in order to please him. Away from his influence, Suzette begins to rediscover her identity and take back the joy in being who she is. She begins to make new friends in her neighborhood and, when she hears about a young child struggling to keep up with reading in school, she uses her teaching experience and skills to devise fun reading activities for Libby. Through it all, Jake waits, a man who has been attracted to her from the very first moment he saw her, and when she's ready, he's right there to offer all his love and support...I gave a satisfied, dreamy sigh when I reached the end. Highly recommended.
