There are a number of poor PLC programming books out there - books full of editorial issues, books written by authors who may be able to PLC program well but are for sure butchers of the English language, and books full of obsolete information and impractical sidebars. People who work in automation know that one thing they can never have enough of is time - which means it's imperative to just stop reading crummy books. And as well, it's imperative to promote a great book when you find one. Austin writes very well, at a level that's pragmatic, well-paced for his intended audience and provides illustrations that help provide clarity to complex topics. Very well done!

By Sebastian Patten The book is a great read for those both new to Industrial Controllers as well as seasoned practitioners. The information is presented in a pragmatic fashion - giving real life reason why you might want/not want to do something - not just a theoretical book. I appreciated all of the side note information: there is a good deal of ancillary information in there. I also appreciated the quality and quantity of illustrations in the book - it keeps the read interesting and not dry. The author definitely has a great breadth and depth of knowledge which is apparent while the various topics of networking and Industrial Control Systems are discussed.

"Bye-Bye Moon" captures this reluctance on the part of kids perfectly -- with a humorous and imaginative plot. My kids absolutely loved this book. They thought the story was funny and interesting. We've read this together a couple of times now. I'll also add that as an adult, I loved the illustrations and rich colors. The images of the kids are great but I especially liked the way the parents are drawn. My favorite scene is when the older sister tries to tell her mom about what she and the younger brother have done with the moon. I definitely recommend this book!

By Gulliver's Mom A truly candid and terrifying trip behind the doors of domestic violence. I couldn't get over the way Kitty portrays the matter-of-fact details of her daily life, as if it was completely normal to actually kneel at the feet of her husband every day. The beginning had me wanting to know more, the middle scared me to death, and the ending brought me to tears. I had to keep reminding myself this wasn't fiction, this was real, which made it all the more disturbing. The way events are portrayed in every scene first lull you into a sense of, "oh, she will be okay this time," and then the walls come crashing down - truly heart-breaking. In the end, the reason her journey begins eventually turns out to be the one thing that saves her - her precious little girl. But, there is a tremendous lesson here for everyone in this type of situation. Do whatever it takes to get out, before it's too late. You won't be disappointed by this story of a woman's courage, and how she survived to tell others how to do the same.

The amount of horror this woman experienced is beyond words but also her recollections and use of dialogue is mind blowing. I loved the visuals in the dialogue. The fact that she was brave enough to recount these horrors is so commendable. I am also writing my first Memoir and I have some horrific upcoming chapters ahead of me, to write. This book is giving me the inspiration and will to keep going in spite of the tough subjects I am going to be facing. Thank you KITTY!! You are awesome and such a survivor. I love survivor stories and Im sure this will help many other women who might be in similiar situations. Your writing is sublime.

This voice shows that women are often locked into these horrific abusive situations because they believe the situation is normal. They don't believe they can escape because they have been told they cannot. When others observe these situations and ignore them, that just confirms the belief that nobody cares. As the story ends, Kitty's words: "If you are living in fear, it is time to move," ring true. I am so glad she survived to tell the tale. And I am equally proud to know this so strong, vibrant woman!

Excellent as Introduction or as Permanent Reference By Dylan Fan I had an earlier edition of this book targeting iOS 6 which I purchased when I first began developing for iOS. I had many years of development experience on desktop platforms but it was my earliest experience with mobile. As an old guy who doesn't retain knowledge quite as easily as I once did (don't laugh, you'll be there one day) I have often referred back to the text when I needed clarification.Now, as I'm transitioning to iOS 9 I was pleased to find the revised and updated edition covering SWIFT, at a bargain price no less. The text is well written covering the topic more broadly than any other I have seen. It is written such that arcane topics can be easily understood without having to reference other material and that makes it a good learning and reference tool for me. While it is perfectly useful for an Objective C programmer, I think it will prove helpful as I start coding in SWIFT.Writing is clear if at times a little wordy. Presentation in the Kindle version is excellent on the iPad. Code examples are perfect for me, as they illustrate the point concisely with a minimum of unnecessary nonsense, allowing you to get in and out of examples with relative ease. The book covers crucial topics like StoreKit in a no-nonsense fashion.Highly recommended for introductory learning as well as permanent reference. I do wish the Kindle contents were more approachable. With over 100 chapters, each having numerous sub chapters, each included in the contents, it can take some time to find what you're looking for; this makes scanning the contents a little tedious. A minor complaint for an excellent book.

This is the best book on iOS Development I've seen By Amazon Customer I'm a developer of 15 years and have taken the plunge to learn Swift/iOS development. In general, when I learn new technologies, I buy all the books on the subject, so I've done that with iOS. This is the best book on iOS Development I've seen, and I've pretty much own them all. The author takes a different approach than the rest, and I was able to follow along extremely well. I also love that the author updates his version and has a companion book for WatchKit which I plan to get next. I would highly recommend this book for anyone making the switch to iOS.

I've been programming in various languages on various machines for 40 years, and have read probably 100+ programming books over the years. This book stands up with the best of them. As could be expected with programming books that show code examples, the size of your screen matters. I used the Kindle reader on my computer, so it was no problem. And an ipad is not too bad, just for reading. But I'd say it would be hard to enjoy the book on a small screen Kindle.I wish the authors had done a better job on size classes with their coffee cup app, and also wish they had put in a discussion on how to properly size empty stack views in auto layout. I chose to spend a few days on those topics, as a student exercise, to get the app to work right on all size classes.I would easily recommend this book to anyone who is learning ios9 and swift and xcode.

That’s how the author lovingly calls most of the people here, who he seems to blame as he rightfully gives away the secret that you can’t blame Los Angeles or any other city which is a thing, only the people within. He also says Los Angeles is just a vehicle for lost souls, it doesn't turn you into one. I liked the book, it was fun but this guy is pretty dark with his writing.

Entertaining but honest look at dating and relationships in LA By Kitty Smith Being familiar with Thrasher's writings I knew "Dating in Los Angeles" would be an entertaining read as well as an honest one. I happen to have two nephews living in LA right now and they shared some of their dating disasters with me over the Christmas holidays so I knew the city was a goldmine of dysfunction and drama. The closest I've been was a 2 hour layover en route to Beijing, but the stories they tell....Thrasher takes a cold, assessing look at relationships in LA, and observes that the majority of problems stem from the individuals, not the city. Fake people with even faker business cards pretending to be someone to impress people they've never met and will likely never see again. Toxic, neurotic individuals who throw themselves 150% into yoga and meditation, not because it puts them in touch with a higher power but because it keeps their nutty butts from lying down in front of a speeding train. Losers who get bottle service at the club while living in a dump so bad even the roaches are afraid to come out at night. LA may the blame for these nutjobs, but the truth is they'd be just as crazy living in some backwater town in Nebraska. (Don't worry LA, we'll keep sending you our crazies!)Unfortunately LA does attract more than its fair share of them, which loads the dating pool to the brim with the worst selection of potential mates. When you add in the general attitude that people are entirely replaceable, it's no surprise finding people worthy of any kind of relationship can be a daunting battle. The stories he shares would be laugh out loud funny if I weren't so busy face palming every five seconds. It's a fantastic read on relationships, life, and attitudes in Los Angeles, as much a guide to the city as a cautionary tale of finding romance.

The people are also just as unique and sadly for the majority not in a good way. I have family in LA and travel to see them often. I have met some truly unique people in LA and often found I technically wasn't meeting them just being introduced the their public persona. I have never dated in LA and when I am there I spend most of my time with family and some close friends, they however as residents so of course date people from the area and they always seemed to have more crazy ex's than anyone else. I saw this book and I thought I would give it a look and see if the author observes the same things they have experienced. The author is spot on in nearly every way and described the scene exactly as they do. I have since recommended the book to a few people in LA and they all got a good laugh reading it and agree it is very accurate.The book is well written and really looks behind the glamour we all see on TV showing the real people in LA and the real dating scene in particular. Of course, not everyone in LA is insane or fake but there are definitely more of them than anywhere else and the city seems to attract them increasingly each year. Overall this is an excellent book that will open your eyes about the people and the dating scene in LA and if you're​ a local I am reliably informed it's that it is very funny when you can look back at your own experiences and they are exactly as described.

Overcoming Mother-In-Law Problems is surely one helpful book and I'm sure all married individuals who have in-laws, especially a mother-in-law, will agree too. I find this book a good source of enlightenment in trying to understand why moms-in-law are like this and like that. In fact, it made me understand them more. I also got a lot from the topic Understanding Your Mother-in-Law's Thoughts that Drive Her Actions. This book must be consulted if one wants to have a good relationship with her mom-in-law.

I Learned Some Helpful Tips in This Book By koolmom I am writing this review to thank this author for putting together what I feel is a very helpful book. For anyone having issues with their mother-in-law, this book is a must read. First off it is short, but I was not be put off by that. I was able to go through the entire book in an evening. I don’t have a lot of time to read and I liked that the author gets to the point quickly. She offers a number of things a person can do to improve the relationship with their spouse’s mother. A few of the suggestions I have to admit I have already tried, but I did learn several that were new and are worth trying. I got the feeling that the author has been there done that. What I mean is that it sounds like she had problems with her mother-in-law and is sharing with her readers what she did and actually worked to make the relationship better. That’s the kind of real advice I like, not theory. It make what she writes and offers as advice more credible.

It's a short book that explains how you can improve or strengthen your relationship with your mother-in-law. Basically it's all about communication and respect. It's short and I wouldn't call it magnificent but still, I enjoyed reading it. Besides, it's always helpful to get other people's insight about certain matters.

Matchmaker services can be costly especially in a big city like where I reside in.I am so thankful for the advice I received from this book. With the number of single people going around the social media sites looking for hookups, it would be so difficult to know who is real and who's not worth your time.We all have different relationship needs. However, now I can truly be the man by putting into practice the lessons shared by the women of this eBook. These matchmakers make it simple, strategic, and real for us hopeful romantics in today's world.
