Review of First Place, Love By John Benjamin First Place, Love is a refreshing look into the lives and struggles of our high-school aged children...or as they like to be called, young adults. The story helps older readers reminisce about their own high school days, while allowing the younger ones to related to the flourish of activities and feelings surrounding the main characters.Maintaining good grades, working toward scholarships, meeting parental expectations (which may conflict with their own) and developing feelings of attraction for someone special, would be an exhausting assignment for anyone. Luckily, it has its rewards, as these students will discover.Young adults will smile as they identify with pep rallies, school projects and deadlines, competitions, sibling rivalry, sleepovers, and dating. The story moves at a perfect pace to allow the reader to soak up the atmosphere of each chapter.First Place, Love deserves a blue ribbon of its own, for a wholesome portrayal of everyday life and challenges of young adults. It leaves the reader with an uplifting reminder of just how far sheer determination and the right amount of support will carry him/her. You will be cheering for these students in no time at all!
