Unfiltered viewing through the eyes of an abused child By Matt in MI The very definition of quality when speaking of a work of non-fiction is to elicit emotions of a broad scale all the while informing the reader on a specific subject.Mr. Dikeman hits a chord on both counts many times over in this riveting, genuine account of his childhood and the abuse he suffered.While I wanted to constantly interject my own feelings and hopes of somehow rewriting the injustices that he suffered, I could not help but continue to turn the pages to see what came next.A child should have so much more than what this author was given in life, but to have the strength to not only survive it, but to also write about it; to bring it to light so that others may be saved the same pain and brutality brings a new definition to mind..... That of heroism.Thank you Mr Dikeman, for showing me truth.

This book is a must read and a great look into the life that children, all over the world, go through when they live with abuse. It is not only physical abuse, but mental and sexual from everyone in his life. Sadly, this is a fact of life that we too often turn away from and ignore, we need to stop ignoring it!! Thank you so much for sharing yo life with us!!! I am looking forward to reading from this author.

Funny, sad, powerful, uplifting was the experience that the author had trying to break through in the entertainment industry , Tinsel Town aka Hollywood. Everything was against her, the odds were not great but she made it happen! It's a light and easy read and I can't wait for her next book to come out.

Emerson Disclosure first: I knew Lisa distantly a couple years ago as a severe Lagree Fitness trainer (quoting: “Push harder, you paid for this, get your money’s worth!”). I followed her Ms. Cheevious blog some, liked her style and bought the book. What a surprise!!! This book is different, another dimension of a broadly competent author. It is a stark, even brave, personal revelation of private thoughts, friends, associates, problems, and experiences: fun, hilarious, philosophical, dark, sexy, and motherly, a sharing of basic emotions we know ourselves. Zany? – yes, but these crazy entertaining exploits hark back to her role as a single mother. The quietly understated unobtrusive web on which this book is woven is her love for and rewards from her children; the dedication page says it all. The book is a pointed inspiration to single mothers to get on with adventure in their lives, but also to realize that parenting too is a rewarding adventure. Lisa includes serious advice and lists practical resources for single mothers in an appendix. All that aside, the reader is in for a guided tour of TV show production and a peeping Tom peek into the lives of women on the loose.

There are serious poems written from a fresh perspective and many ingeniously humorous poems, all written with natural meter, flow, and pulse. Landwehr has definitely begun to make his mark in the world of poetry with several of the poems in this book having received national recognition through publication in well-respected magazines. I highly recommend this book.

A Whimsical Journey By SamIAm Written Life is a collection of poetry that is divided into ten sections based on topics that include home, pets, family, youth, and life in general. Landwehr’s ability to take a simple object and turn its existence into a celebration that brings the reading on a whimsical journey viewed through the window of his unique perspective is what makes these poems so enjoyable. Some poems begin almost as a riddle, with a leisurely challenge to the reader to unravel the answer to whatever ordinary object or theme Landwehr is describing with perfect imagery and metaphor. After most of the poems, I found myself wishing I had the ability to look at the mundane and view it with the wit this author uses to lavish a humorous flavor onto a familiar theme. It would not be a stretch to refer to him as the Shel Silverstein for adults; Landwehr has brought light-hearted yet meaningful poetry to a new level. I once read that the sign of a good poem is that you’re unable to keep it to yourself and feel compelled to share it with others, and this reflects my sentiments about Written Life perfectly!

It does a reasonable job of explaining the concept of DevOps. If DevOps can make it across the chasm you will be very happy to have the material found in this book in your arsenal of knowledge. Overall, I think it’s a great manual for anyone interested in, working on or managing DevOps. It’s one of the few books I keep next to my workstation as a reference.

By Brian DevOps is one of the modern software development methologies which are in use today. It is easy to read and understand, which belies the underlying complexity of the material and is a testament to the skills of the author. In this book the information is organized in a logical way that’s easy to access, read and understand. It is indeed a good read and I highly recommend this book to everyone. It’s really worth spending my money and time on this book.

Anyone with a couple of semester from IAnimate or animation mentor under their belt will benefit little. This is a very superficial overview of a complex subject. The interviews added between the chapters are a nice filler. Keith Osborn described his workflow from step to spline, but too little for the non initiated and not enough for the somewhat experience animator. Of note the link to the companion files of the kindle edition is non functional. Furthermore, this text is 10$ cheaper if you order it directly from the publisher in a epub format. Oh well, there is no substitute for practice...

I've been animating for several years and have completed the feature course at iAnimate just last year so I guess I'm not a beginner or an expert, somewhere in between.Regarding the content here's my take on it :Since I've been studying animation intensively for a few years there's not a lot in the book I haven't already heard of (I've read ASK, Illusion of Life, Timing for Animation and lots of others), so parts like the discussion of the basic principles is stuff I'm already very familiar with. At the same time though - I really don't believe the basics can ever be repeated too often as this stuff is crucial to think about as much as possible! So I find having it repeated in different contexts by different books is a good thing.The other side of it is that in most animation courses/books they talk about animation as a whole, and they don't dig deep into one style so much as cover many styles. But this book deals very specifically with very pushed cartoony animation in particular and for me that's very interesting and there's some great information in there that you can only learn with a lot of trial and error in many casesIt also covers a lot of stuff that's anecdotal, like the interviews, which I found was generally illuminating. I'm a freelancer and I work remotely so I'm always aware that one thing I miss by not being part of a studio is the chance to look over someone's shoulder while they work and to ask them questions about their thought process, workflow etc. I got some of that at iAnimate but I'm always hungry for more as every animator has their own tips and tricks to offer. So for me the interviews are definitely useful and had some great tips and insights.

This book greatly demystified the process of creating 3D animation for me, and although the included rig and plug-ins are made for Maya specifically, the techniques taught are actually applicable to many other software and even 2D animation in certain cases, since it is essentially aplying the 12 principles of animation to 3D animation. While I obviously got a lot out of this book, however, I should mention that 1) this book is made for over-the-top, cartoonist animation, and wouldn't be of much use to people who work on more realistic animation; and 2) like any other book or tutorial, you have to practice and follow along to actually improve, but I'm sure you already understand that. Overall, a great book that is already improving my animation work flow at college.

And the authors dictionary in the back of the book is wonderful to help children learn new words. My 10 year old likes to carry the book with her to re-read and giggle. I would recommend this book for any child 3-12 years old!

Telling profound stories By Glynn Young Joan Murray has been publishing poetry for the last 25 years, and this year has an expanded volume, “Swimming for the Ark: New and Selected Poems.” In addition to new poetry, she draws upon poems from four volumes published between 1990 and 2015.Her poems tell stories. In fact, given the poems included in this new volume, Murray has been a storytelling poet from the beginning.“Her Head,” included in this new volume, is a good example.Her HeadNear Ekuvukeni,in Natal, South Africa,a woman carries water on her head.After a year of drought,when one child in three is at risk of death,she returns from a distant well,carrying water on her head.The pumpkins are gone,the tomatoes withered,yet the woman carries water on her head.The cattle kraals are empty,the goats gaunt—no milk now for children,but she is carrying water on her head.The engineers have reversed the river:those with power can keep their power,but one woman is carrying water on her head.In the homelands, where the dusty crowdswatch the empty roads for water trucks,one woman trusts herself with treasure,and carries water on her head.The sun does not dissuade her,not the dried earth that blows against her,as she carries the water on her head.In a huge and dirty pail,with an idle handle,resting on a narrow can,this woman is carrying water on her head.This woman, who girds her neckwith safety pins, this onewho carries water on her head,trusts her own head to bring to her peoplewhat they need nowbetween life and death:She is carrying them water on her head.The language is simple and straightforward; nothing abstract to leave you guessing at meaning. The last book recommendation I followed through on buying was 50 Shades of Grey which was a massive and most feculent disappointment. I am very happy to say that this book was the complete opposite and I am very grateful to that friend (the 50 Shades recommender “friend” is no longer on my xmas list). As a woman looking for the partner of your dreams is hard work. It’s a jungle out there. So much dating and relationship advice is corny and cliched at best, patronising and old fashioned at worst. This system is refreshingly real and feels like a natural truth, it just makes sense. Being who you truly are instead of focussing on building an image, following rules and playing games will not only bring you the love that you want but will powerfully change the way you live your entire life. Reading the book I was reminded of something Rumi wrote, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it”. The author breaks these potential barriers into 5 clear basic principles and 9 keys of attraction. There’s self assessment tools and a clear structure to follow. I also appreciated how he weaved the narrative of his own personal journey into the book, it made it an interesting read and not just a dry outlining of processes as can often be the case in this genre. This feels like a revolutionary kind of self-development, different from all of the other stuff out there, its not all hippy trip new age mumbo jumbo, its not pure psychology, its not spiritual advice…its not your average self-help book from your motivational speaker type either - it feels real and honest and like it would really work. It has made me interested in emailing the author to ask more questions about his unique system and I don’t usually do things like that. A rare five stars from me.

This is not a book made to promote scams or confuse people. It breaks down Clickbank and I can't wait to follow up with the bonus offers included. The author has an amazing knack of capturing the very real struggle of a parents experience. There is a delicate balance of emotion & science. NICU is a whole different world with a whole different language. The author does a great job of taking what is scary & foreign for families & puts it into words that make sense & reassure them that what they are experiencing & feeling is normal. As a NICU nurse, I feel this is a great resource for families with infants in the NICU. I want to give a copy to every family that walks into the NICU.BTW, the glossary of terms at the back of the book is GOLD!
