It is difficult to decide how to potty train - everyone has their horror stories and techniques they have to share with you! I wanted to do it right the first time and without fighting with my baby. My son has a limited vocabulary still, but understands a lot....I was actually worried that my potty training attempt wouldn't be successful because of his limited vocabulary - I was wrong! By the end of day 1, using the Sweet and Simple method, my son would stand at the bathroom door and signal that he needed to use the potty! You will definitely need to be home for about 2 weeks (I did 6 days, with great success, and asked my mother-in-law/babysitter to continue in underwear during the 2nd week). My son has not worn a diaper, at all, since we began this method just over 2 weeks ago. We have taken him on a few 3 hour trips during this time, with his potty chair of course, and have had no accidents. At night, I turn the monitor up as loud as possible and when I hear him rustle, I take him to the potty and he pees - this is usually twice/night around 11:00pm and 3:00am. He sleeps through his 2 hour nap every day with no accidents. After day 3 of this method, the few accidents that my baby has had have been my fault for not taking him soon enough. I have recommended this book to all of my friends and will keep spreading the word about this book - it works! I am most grateful for the suggestions the author makes on how to handle accidents; it really is Sweet and Simple. By the way....toys and books by the potty chair were great incentives!

By Melanie If you want a no frills, inexpensive and timely way to potty train your child, this is the book to read! The author is the mom of five children and she definitely has the credentials and experience to back up her claims. My own children are older but how I wish I had this gem of a book when I was going through the throes of potty training. It is chock full of advice that our grandparents and great grandparents took for granted. I know several mommas who have used the methods outlined in this book and been astounded by how quickly their little ones were done with pull ups and training pants. If you are searching for the same results, look no further-this book is the answer.
