3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Practical, validating, and encouraging By ashmar88 The Kinship Parenting Toolbox, like it's cousin The Foster Parenting Toolbox, is a wealth of tools, practical advice, and stories that validate, encourage, and support families on this journey. Kinship parenting comes with all the same challenges, difficulties (and joys) of foster parenting, but with the added complexity of family relationships and having a book that acknowledges these differences while providing helpful tools for navigating that path is invaluable. ~Angela Hurley

By DrM As a therapist specializing in work with foster and adoptive families, this great collection of essays offers just the hands-on advice and support I look for in a book to recommend to my clients. Covering so many areas and topics, it is a fantastic resource for both new and veteran kinship carers! I dip into it, too, when I need practical information, so I recommend it not just as a resource for families, but for their support teams, too!

By Dr. Kenny When children are removed from a birth home for abuse or neglect, the extended family becomes the first choice for placement. Yet kin care has been a neglected topic in child welfare. This book helps fill that gap, with both practical and supportive suggestions on handling a difficult situation and task.
