About the Author Lisa Goff is a wife to Brian, and a mother of 3 special needs children. She and Brian adopted their children as infants, and have devoted their lives to making a difference for children and families living with disabilities. As part of this effort Lisa is dedicating three children's books, based on the personalities of her three children, to help raise money for a non-profit organization that she and her husband are developing. I was really drawn to Lucy, the girl in the wheel chair, who likes blueberries. Not just any blueberries, frozen blueberries; the kind that gives her a reaction that leads to a sequence of events in the story.I work with special needs children and can appreciate Lucy’s personality and behaviors that are typical also of children without disabilities. I found it heart-warming that a mother of a girl with special needs has chosen to write a book about her daughter. I also like the message of what a little laughter can do among friends.

Meyers While some may lament a changing world and long for days past, there are many things I'm glad have evolved. One in particular is an acceptance of groups of people who have been historically marginalized. In that vane, Blueberry Lu provides a nice example of modern, progressive acceptance. While the main character used a wheel chair, this is never emphasized nor made a focus. Instead, this is just a simple story about a little girl who likes blueberries. Well done!

It shows that a wheelchair bound girl can have all kinds of fun! Precious book to be cherished by young families and grandmas and grandpas as well. Read this to your children today to help them understand special needs children are just like "regular" kids! Obviously written by a caring Mom. Give it five stars!!!
