All past, present, and future—words; they are sometime words in my mind trying to tell me other-wise. They tell me things other than what I see and feel; and, they tell me to believe in make-believe: the flower petals fluttering through the misty breeze, not the scent of rain beyond the horizon, not the love of a king for his daughter and queen. Words create the illusions in my mind. Words hide what my eyes want you and I to find. Words, dear reader, have great power: the power to lock and unlock the mysteries of life and the maze of our minds.

Rhymes of a Woodman's Path: Hiding in the Trees, by Jacob Burnard

About the Author Jake . . . that’s how he’s known, and that’s what I call him. With the exception of an occasional Mountain Man or Grizzly Adams reference due to his beard and big boned features, that’s what everybody calls him. . . Jake. Born in southern California in 1982, he was the youngest with two tough brothers and a passionately assertive sister. Not a privileged or a formally educated family, but that gave Jake what really mattered – the ability and essentially an open-ended invitation to be whatever he desired. His parents were separated when mom was taken by cancer in the year 2000 at the young age of 44. Jake was only seventeen. The world was wide open . . . an open book. Although tragic, this gave Jake the opportunity to become his own, to forge his own way down the prickly and elliptical path we all call life. In order to provide for his beautiful little daughter and himself in Menifee, California, Jake has used his large stature and strength to earn a living working outdoors in the construction business. Interestingly, however (or maybe not so much), Jake comes from a family of artists – grandma paints, crochets, and is all around talented. Others play instruments, sing and write music. Jake, however, in addition to having a big heart and loving family, has always loved nature. Nature. . . It only makes sense that he went to school and studied environmental and behavioral science, earning two associates degrees. Jake’s love of nature and people has inspired him to create adventures such as his annual barefoot hike through the Cleveland National Forest. Not to mention, his signature ranch festivities where ax-throwing and wood chopping were always a fun and friendly competition among those close to him. These are just a few of his exciting escapades! More importantly, Jake’s love of nature and family has remained paramount and inspired him to write. Following his heart, Jake takes artistry to a whole “’nother” level. His different and uniquely abstract, but surprisingly understanding writings touch a vein in the artery of his readers that inspire adventure and offers lessons for everyone. His life experiences and artistic imagination have inspired this beautiful collection that I am sure will arouse the passion of countless readers for long into the future. Daniel L. Vinson

Each poem is a riddle into the mind of the author as he gives you access to life as a son, brother, friend, lover, child, and father. Read it if you identify with any of the above.

Most people, if asked, would deny that they'd ever had fantasy relationships, as they are associated with pretending to be with someone or in something that's nonexistent. However, it's time for you to change what you think you know.

In this modern age of texts, email, Facebook, online dating, and casual relationships, it's never been so easy to find yourself in a crumb-filled fantasy relationship. An increasing number of people are satisfied with sprinklings of attention and interaction which they use to give themselves the illusion of being loved, cared for, and in control because they get to avoid commitment, intimacy, and full-on rejection.

The Dreamer and the Fantasy Relationship is for every woman who's been caught short by her overactive imagination and her great expectations. Struggled to get over a relationship that didn't truly exist? Don't understand how you wound up spending years with someone you hardly saw? Keep letting your assumptions and projections run away with you?

It's time to come back down to earth and face reality so you can take action in your present, face your real future, and get happy.

Acting as a companion guide to Mr Unavailable and the Fallback Girl, the no-holds-barred Bible for understanding excuse-filled, commitment-dodging, unavailable men and the women that they fall back on for an ego stroke, shag, and a shoulder to lean on, I wanted to introduce a new role due to the sheer number of emails and comments I receive from women who actually believe that the crumbs they're receiving, particularly via cheap talk, grand promises, texts, email, and Facebook are relationships or love.

The Dreamer and the Fantasy Relationship explains how fantasy relationships work, why they're so attractive, and the types of fantasy relationship and Mr. Unavailable that you're likely to be involved with and provides practical tips and tools for breaking the habit and tackling issues such as rejection avoidance and fear of abandonment, criticism, and conflict.

Delivered with a no-fluff dose of reality and plenty of humour, I want to empower you to let go of the illusions so you can be available for an available relationship in the real world.

I've been living in my mind (constant daydreaming, fantasing, etc.) since a traumatic event in my childhood. I didn't realize, that as the years went by, it was becoming more frequent and negatively effecting my real life. When relationships ended, to avoid the pain, i kept the relationships going in my head. It's supposed to be a pleasant escape but in REALITY i was letting this fantasy eat away at me. Mrs. Lue helped me see that i have been taking a few good qualities about someone and then letting my fantasy make them into this perfect person. When this "perfect" person rejects me i of course feel worthless. Truth is in reality these people i pine for aren't even worth my affection. Natalie Lue is teaching me how to WAKE UP and see, think and act realistically when it comes to love and loving myself. I recommend this book to everyone. Maybe most people don't dream as much as i do but thanks to Disney and romantic films, i think most of us have a false sense of reality when it comes to love.

Robbins After a couple of abusive relationships, I now have a better understanding of the pitfalls I stumble into. I found this book at just the right time. I was looking for a stable relationship with someone who could love me, help me feel safe and happy. I thought I found that in a person I met through an online game. We texted, emailed and even talked on the phone. After a medical diagnosis, he just disappeared. It broke my heart because I thought we were great friends and now he wouldn't answer my calls, return texts or emails. I didn't understand why he would disappear when I needed a friend the most. With the help of this book, I realize he wasn't the person I was hoping he was. I realize that I can make myself happy with someone that I can meet and someone that is willing to live with me in reality instead of all the "some day's" or "when's". Although it is difficult, with the help and advice in this book, I'm moving on. I know that by the time I feel better physically that I will be much stronger emotionally, mentally and spiritually. If you find yourself "crushing" on an unavailable person, co-worker or you think you've met the perfect guy online, find yourself selling yourself short while you let someone else use your time to decide what you should do ... this book is for you. It won't be an automatic fix and will require some change inside yourself, after all ... if we aren't' willing to change, we will fall into the same traps and pitfalls.I know some have commented on the poor spelling and grammar, but if you need the help enough it shouldn't be a bother. I also enjoy well written grammar with correct spelling, but I think fixing me is far more important.

I thought I wanted to change but part of me didn't. I had to stop so many times while reading and take breaks and really think about what the author said. Everything was true but it was hard to hear. This book helped me to grow as a person. I began to understand my own life and my motivations and the ways I've thought that have made me deluded and not present in my life. I uncovered the reason for my obsessions, denials and not living in reality. I am amazed at the insight the author has about disfunctional fantasy relationships. I've spent years of my life trying to figure out where things went wrong and never discovered the raw honesty of what was really going on. I don't think I can go through life with blinders on anymore. I can't thank the author enough for the impact this book has made on me. It is painful to see through the fantasies you create to cope with life but your real life will be better for it.

Fascinating View of History By John Kay Blackstone's language takes a little time to adjust to, as does the character for "s" used other than as the first letter of a word - it looks very similar to an "f". However, the sonorous language - the book is actually transcripts of speeches - is quite captivating. As a history reader it gives a unique view of the development of society in England as represented by the changing of laws to suit. I was especially interested in the explanations and development of the feudal system and its successors. An interesting man, William.

With 91 million units sold worldwide, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise is established as one of the best-selling game series ever. Recognized for having some of the richest, most-engrossing art and storytelling in the industry, Assassin’s Creed transcends video games, branching into other entertainment experiences including comic books, novels, short films and an impressive merchandise line-up.   The recently announced Assassin’s Creed Syndicate takes players into the underbelly of Victorian London at a time when the Industrial Revolution is in full swing. The depth and attention to detail in the artwork brings London to life around you. This volume contains hundreds of never-before-seen concept arts, including sketches, final paintings, 3D renders and texture studies, all sitting alongside insightful and comprehensive commentary from the artists and developers.   Highlights in the book include a close look at the London Boroughs, each realized in extraordinary detail, staying true to both the historical roots of the area and giving each their own visual identity and population. Review “Beautifully rendered illustrations that cover characters, elements, and the city itself..flanked by facts and descriptions of the thoughts that went into the designs. If you love behind-the-scenes stuff and Assassin’s Creed, then this book is for you.” - Brutal Gamer gift guide“The Art of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate features a lot of gorgeous painted artwork and will be a delight for lovers of the video game series, painted art, and late 1800s industrial England.” - Die Hard Game Fan“It is a pleasure to read” - Artbook Passion “A beautiful coffee table book” -  Irate Gamer"Each of the books’ 192 pages is absolutely covered in gloriously bleak artwork covering the many boroughs that make up the world of Syndicate. You’ll also find plenty of fascinating concept art and early renderings of the iconic Assassin’s gear as it shifted to a fittingly industrialized Steampunk -inspired aesthetic over the course of the game’s two-year development cycle." - Hey Poor Player"Gives us a detailed look at how the visuals of the game came together." - Aint it Cool Gift Guide “Beautifully rendered illustrations that cover characters, elements, and the city itself coat the heavy-stock pages and are flanked by facts and descriptions of the thoughts that went into the designs. If you love behind-the-scenes stuff and Assassin’s Creed, then this book is for you.” - Brutal Gamer "If you are a fan of the game, or just a fan of gorgeous concept art, this book continues a string of amazing collections from Titan Books." - Gaming Trend"A beautiful book that would fit into any gamer’s library." - Gamers Sphere“The overall book is very detailed and interested to read, especially for fans of the AC series. It offers a full view of the major aspects of the game and it’s interesting to see some of the original concept work and how much development went into things many fans may look at as simple minutiae of a hit game” - Entertainment Buddha

Yet another wonderful companion artbook By Parka [[VIDEOID:115f950a45af04a42d3f96e17116f7b4]]This is yet another wonderful companion artbook for the Assassin's Creed Series. This time you get to look at Victorian London during the Industrial Revolution. Famous places and buildings are re-imagined, such as the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Tower of London, Westminster, The Thames, Southwark, Whitechapel and more. Gamers who live in London should be thrilled to see those familiar sights as interpreted by artists.I love the environment art of Assassin's Creed and the art direction is fantastic. It's definitely bleak, but it's also so hauntingly beautiful as well.In addition to the environment art, there are also lots of character designs of the new assassins, supporting characters and the everyday men and women on the streets. It's pretty cool as usual to see the character and costume designs.Generally speaking, most of the illustrations are really detailed. The photo-bashing style is done extremely well. Photos are used for their textures to overlay onto the digitally drawn art and it works really well. At times I don't even get the feeling of the photo and digital art collage. I love the way they are painted in nitty-gritty style too. There are also commentary that talk about the design. It's a great artbook. Highly recommended.Do check out other Assassin's Creed artbooks if you haven't.(See more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

Addiction is a disease. It is a cancer that grows like a tumor within our loved ones: a tumor that cannot be removed. Addiction has no cure-but addiction, like many other diseases, can be treated successfully. And like many other diseases, if left untreated, it can be fatal.

In Parallel Worlds, author Kathleen Arch narrates frank revelations and observations of her experiences living with her son's addiction. Offering personal insight into the world of addiction and how it affects families and loved ones, Arch discusses how she has tried to help her son and how she deals with her personal pain. In addition, Arch includes stories from other families, which depict their loss, their pain, and their struggles and hopes.

The stronger the pull, the stranger the world, the deeper the abyss -Arch

Checklists are efficient, and in today's busy world, parents are short on time and overloaded with information; yet filtering out the junk wastes precious time and having too many choices paralyzes us. As a former Naval Aviator, Kim relied on a "pocket checklist" to guide her through each flight. While parenting may not be as fast paced as flying in a fighter jet, it is loaded with potential pitfalls and important yet forgettable minutiae. With this guide, Kim combines witty, concise, research-based to-do lists with practical tips from hundreds of experienced moms and dads, getting straight to the point of what parents need to know about pregnancy, baby, and beyond.

The Parent's Pocket Checklist: An Essential Guide to Pregnancy, by Kim Arrington Johnson

About the Author When Kim was pregnant for the first time, she had lots of extra time for reading and research. She had recently quit a demanding job and needed an intellectual outlet. She had spent her adult life racing from one action-packed environment to another--from the U.S. Naval Academy to flight school to fighter jets (as an F-14 RIO and F/A-18F WSO) to business school at Duke to corporate life at Goldman Sachs--to finally, and being at home all day with a baby. While she was thrilled and blessed to be a mom, she was also lonely and disheartened. Nobody told her that motherhood would be so complex. Determined not to spend nap time discouraged, she created a web site and mom blog sharing what she had read about parenting topics, such as vaccine safety, chemicals in our food and household products, anxiety and depression for new parents, potential causes for autism, ADHD, food allergies, and more. As she wrote, checklists and bullet-point action items naturally emerged.  As a Naval Aviator, Kim relied on a "pocket checklist" to guide her through each flight. In fact, the pocket checklist, or PCL, was so indispensable that it remained zipped into the pocket of Kim's anti-gravity suit for fear that it would become detached in an emergency or dynamic flight. While parenting may not be as fast paced as flying in a fighter jet, it is loaded with potential pitfalls and important yet forgettable minutiae. Who can remember all of the dos and don'ts of modern pregnancy and parenting? It was also clear from blogging that parents were longing for concise, yet trusted advice--laying the foundation for The Parent's Pocket Checklist book series and fueling the passion behind Kim's work.

Practical, down to earth, fact driven from multitude of searches (megafiles!) not pushing product nor alarmist, but sensible advice from decisions and tradeoffs on birthing options to what really matters when buying a diapers, trying to figure out how to get baby items on a budget, what is safe from foods, toxins, cosmetics..to what types of things during pregnancy have been linked to ADHD and autism...however all easy to understand, taking scientific research and boiling it down to what matters. As a mom of two now, reading this has been the most realistic approach to pregnancy I've seen anyone take. The tip sections and checklists are the best as they make application of the advice easy...and for my husband, they provide an easy way to engage and be apart of the process & decisions. There is so much information out there, and honestly trying to find one place that has it all boiled down to what matters...you could not make a better investment for your money in buying this pregnancy book! (from one who has read a ridiculous number of them).

Instead of being overwhelming (like many pregnancy books), the author keeps this one simple yet still chock full of EVERYTHING you need to know. Flip to a section on baby registry, and she lists recommended items to buy, even giving brand reviews and top picks (based on most value, space saving, etc.) Phew, how easy is that? Or go to a section on hiring a nanny, and the author has a checklist of the entire process, including interview questions. Or my favorite - the pregnancy timeline that takes me through in ~6 week intervals all the relevant medical, financial, nutritional, fun tips for that stage. Those are just a few examples of the many helpful checklists! It takes the stress out of all these activities to have everything laid out in such an intuitive, methodical, and extremely practical way. Thank you for writing this book!! I'm buying a copy for all my friends having babies.

Highly recommend By Maggie Opperman This book is great for when you feel bombarded by information, especially as a first time parent. The author narrows all the basics down so well, with in depth research, but very to-the-point results. I wish I had had this book for my first pregnancy. It would've given me a lot more of the answers I was looking for, from everything to products, to birth plans, to what to eat. But, I have enjoyed this just as much for my second pregnancy. I really like how she gives pros and cons of so many options and ideas, without pushing any one personal belief or choice.

Review Fast paced and full of adventure, this production is sure to please -- Audiofile magazine, August/September 2003…a wonderfully funny and entertaining story [audio version] -- Large Print Reviews, May 2003

From the Publisher The Monster's Ring is a multi-voiced recording featuring author Bruce Coville himself as narrator and the talented Full Cast Audio family of actors. The roles of the children are played by real life children, which adds an authentic touch, and young Russell's transformation into a monster is guaranteed to delight young and old alike. Reminiscent of classic radio drama, this magical audiobook is even better because it contains the full, unabridged text. Special Feature: An exclusive afterword with author Bruce Coville, who talks about how he first got the idea for the Magic Shop books.

From the Inside Flap Pursued by the bullying Eddie, timid Russell Crannaker stumbles into Mr. Elives' magic shop, where he buys a mysterious ring that allows him to become a monster. Soon Russell finds himself growing bolder as he begins to express his inner monster. But has he become too bold?

What, exactly, is the ring doing to him? And what price will he have to pay if he fails to follow the directions? This full cast recording, narrated by Bruce Coville himself, perfectly captures the frightfully funny, deliciously scary story that launched the highly acclaimed Magic Shop series.

You will because of the monsters ring. The ring works like this: Step 1: You twist it once around and you get fangs as teeth in your mouth. When you twist it twice, which is step 2, you get horned and hairy. Then step 3: You twist the ring three times, but no person has dared. In this book a kid named Russell is going to a Halloween party and he needed the perfect costume for it. I can make a text to world connection by saying every one had to go to get a costume. So he went all around town looking for the perfect costume but no store had one. So he went to the magic store and the clerk gave him a box with a ring in it and it was the monsters ring.I personally think that the ring made him a horrible person and as the story went so did his attitude. The Monsters Ring is a flawless and very scary book. And also very interesting.I would really recommend this book to lots of kids that like scary books and movies and to kids wirth the age of 10-13.

By A Customer This book is great for every child that has a love for magic and a good imigination for fantasy. It touches the topic of school bullies and how to take care of them! I am using this book as part of my literature reading in my class for the month of October. I recommend that all children put on their magic rings and begin to read The Monster's Ring.

As usual we have a magic item that may or may not help a middle school kid with his or her problem. Here, the problem is bullying, and while lots of book address that problem, they do so with wildly varying degrees of success. This one takes a turn toward standing up for yourself, which is OK by me. Again as in all of the Magic Shop books there are other issues as well - babying by Mom, poor communication with Dad, not paying attention to instructions and warnings. This all sounds pretty preachy, but it isn't. It just acknowledges that from the point of view of middle school drama, these are the kinds of things that come up. The hero is believable and sympathetic. There are some funny bits with secondary characters. All in all a quick but satisfying read with some excitement, some mild instruction, and a sense of humor. Not bad.
