We acquired 6 chicks for our first backyard flock and this book is a great compliment to our new lifestyle for my nearly 4 year old. It's easy to follow, has a nice flow and is informative. She loves it! The only problem is now she wants a Silkie to add to our flock. Haha.

About the Author Hank Walter, 87, began his writing career with the World-Telegram and the Sun, a metropolitan daily in New York City. He served 10 years as a civil service, investigative, City Hall and political reporter/writer. While there, he was elected into the Inner Circle, an organization of past and present political news writers who mount an annual lampoon of City, State and national officials and politicians. The money raised by the black-tie event is distributed to some 80 local charities. He served as president of the Inner Circle in 1962, and is still active in the group. He worked a year as the spokesman for Commissioner John Carroll, head of a newly created city-wide Department of Highways. After that he spent six years as editorialist and writer/producer of social documentaries for WMCA-Radio when it was the musical home of the “WMCA Good Guys.” He also served as the station’s public affairs director. His documentaries have earned more than a dozen journalism awards for the station. Next, he worked for seven years for Abraham D. Beame, first as his spokesman when he was the City Comptroller, then as his researcher/speechwriter and special assistant when he was elected Mayor of New York City. After that, he was the speechwriter for Comptroller Harrison Goldin for 12 years. After his retirement from City service, he worked for two years as a researcher/speechwriter for corporate executives. Despite this record, he has always considered himself primarily as a poet, having written verse and poems, off and on, for more than 70 years. It has been said by one reviewer that, “his poetry has condensed clarity of thought and precision of description. A lifetime of word-smithing has produced four collections of thought-provoking and spirit-uplifting poems that offer a voyage of self-discovery to the reader.” He and his wife have been married for 61 years. They have eight children, five children-in-law, ten grandchildren, one grandchild-in-law and one great grandchild.

I felt like I was listening, at the same time, to my father, my grandfather and my own thoughts as a parent as I read through Mr. Walter's odes to growing older and watching the children go from their own simple innocence to an awareness (and fatigue?) of the world around them. About the Author Ron met his wife Ella while working in Yosemite National Park in 1954. Falling in love, they were married in November and moved to Los Angeles, California. Ron's experience working for Bonanza Airlines as the assistant station mgr. at the Los Angeles international airport qualified him to go to work for the Federal Aviation, Agency. After working as an air traffic controller for 6 years in Anchorage, Alaska, and the father of 3 young sons, Ron quit his job and moved south to Denver Colorado. It was there that they found the Golconda Resort, raised their 4 sons and hoped one day, they'd pass the business on to their sons. His writing career began after learning the Secret of Golconda and was followed by his second book, Love Redemption Tacos and Tortillas and later his most recent book, "Don't Retire in Mexico" the case for and against.

A PRESENT DAY PONDEROSA By kent jackson It is my father's book and it tells our family tale so I am not without bias in saying it is genuinely one of the very best books I have ever read. Given the bias I have been most curious to know how other people might perceive it and thus asked no less than 10 friends over several months to give me their brutally honest opinions...assuring them that their honesty and objectivity were my singular hope. If no accolades were warranted, I didn't want to hear any. Happily, and to my pleasant suprise every single report has come back in glowing and gushing terms.It seems that a humble story of family, love and hard earned values can still warm a heart or two in this frequently hard and cold world. This true story of our family's journey through life set in the heart of the majestic Colorado rocky mountains seems to summon up the same sort longings that once compelled millions of families across the nation to their television sets every Sunday night to rejoin the Cartwrights on the Ponderosa.......

Couldn't wait to get back to it, when I put it down. What will they do next, what new challenges will they encounter???? With a courage and determination, that all too few possess, Ron forged ahead. Often funny, always with an incredible humility, he describes his good decisions and his bad. His dearly loved family and staff round out the cast of characters in this touching saga. I was so sad to finish it, made me wish for a sequel!!!!!!

Good Content For Great Price By Amazon Customer I have read Unrevaling AngularJS1.4 and Unraveling Bootstrap 3.3 and this is the third book i am reading (not yet finished) from the same author. Istvan delivers the content concisely (need to mention i am not a native english speaker) and in the end you get the necessary knowledge to develop your own projects. I prefer skimming the topics in a fast manner and return back to the chapters later for more detail and like his previous books this book goes along very well with my taste of reading. Another thing is the price of his books ridiculously cheap so you can save your money. I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in the topic.

By Amazon Customer Plenty of examples to examine different properties of Angular Material. I took it upon myself to convert all his examples to Jade and CoffeeScript to see how it would all fit together and was able to finish with satisfaction at the final results. The examples in the book are a little brief, so you end up having to refer to the downloadable versions to figure out what was missing. The English grammar needed some work to be more readable. Not really a reference guide, but more an exploration of the basic features.

About the Author

Marcus Weldon, is the president of Bell Labs and chief technology officer of Alcatel-Lucent. Marcus holds a BS in chemistry and computer science from King’s College, London, and a PhD in physical chemistry from Harvard University. In 1995 he joined the Physics Division at AT&T Bell Labs as a post-doctoral researcher, before becoming a Member of Technical Staff in the Optical Materials Division. Dr. Weldon won a series of scientific and engineering society awards for his work on electronic and optical materials, and holds numerous patents related to that work. In 2005 he moved from research to hold a variety of CTO roles in different business divisions, before becoming the Corporate CTO with responsibility for defining the future direction of the industry and the associated evolution of the Alcatel-Lucent portfolio. He became the thirteenth President of Bell Labs in December 2013. He is a member of the Executive Board of ATIS (Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions) and a member of the FCC Open Internet Advisory Committee.

It has amazing and original insights from Bell Labs researchers based on their experience and mathematical models of future that even Mary Meeker would find interesting. Although it appears it was written by one author, actually it has been written by an entire organization - Bell Labs. Each chapter is written by 2-3 researchers from Bell Labs sharing their expertise and deeper insights into their research areas and other organizations - Bell Labs Consulting and CTO have also been credited with contributing.Where is technology enabled by networking & cloud going in 2020? How is technology and connectivity going to change the way clouds evolve? Why data centers will move from remote locations to within a few kilometers from your home. This means data centers will shrink in size and multiply in numbers. How much data will each person on the earth store per capita om 2020 ..even 2025. Is it even possible to secure our data and networks? Usually you access their latest findings scattered in different publications, focused on a detailed field of science or technology, in articles filled with (sometimes) painstaking details and technical demonstrations.One book! One single book describing where Bell Labs think our communication technology is today, and where it is heading tomorrow! This is both exciting and daunting. Is this going to be a rewarding reading experience, or will it end up on the shelves, right next to these big encyclopedia volumes?Chances are, if you are reading this review, you are asking yourself the same question.Well, it is surprisingly accessible! The book is well written, in clear and concise language, and filled with supporting data and diagrams, making it a pleasant and enlightening experience. When I closed the book, I could not help but think how much more I knew about the telecommunications landscape, though not really a newcomer in this field, than I did before turning the first page. Oh and when I say landscape, it’s really a “panoramic landscape” just as some other reviewers already observed.In this day and age, there’s not much more you can ask from a technology book.Kudos to the Bell Labs team for making this, and making it for everyone.

By TyLeishia Douglass Let me first say as an author I am just blown away with her collection especially "One More Time" This is the Quintessential Essence of what true and raw feelings of poetry display. Author Janis Mavis knows how to exuberate her verbosity and not fill the readers eyes with banter and nomenclature. she leaves you with a sense of respecting your own inner feelings. How I feel about Janis poetry? It's like your favorite beverage, for example if you like some wine and spirits (libations) Author Mavis poetry is like that, if you read one too many you will definitely feel the buzz way down deep! I highly recommend this read which I gladly give 5 STARTS! Can't wait for her next collection!
