By Elizabeth Stone I have finished your book which is obviously of tremendous importance to many parents and other people in our society. No parent should have to go through what you and your husband have experienced. I admire your bravery and your strength for having been able to stand up against such unfortunate serious circumstances. Unfortunately, I can understand many of the frustrations you that you have felt and I am impressed with your ability to sense and see the difference between one's love and when one is been used. However, I have absolutely no doubt in reading your book that your son loved his family very much. That is obvious. I am sure he loved his brother as well even though his brother was not mentioned in his final note. It appears to me that your son simply felt so badly about his problems that he made the choices that he did but that does not mean that he was not a good person and did not love his family. One could accuse someone of being "selfish" by taking his own life. I see it in a different way. I believe instead he cared deeply, could not help the extent of his problems and he did the best he could to deal with what became a very difficult situation for him.I am extremely impressed by your faith which was maintained through all of this tremendous hardship. You set a superb example for humanity and I trust and hope that you will receive the rewards that you deserve. You Don't Have Yo Be A Pastor By SCCONSUMER Despite the minor fact that the author is my son I know that this book has Richard's heart and soul in it. Those that have gone through reproductive loss, have adopted or intend to adopt can benefit simply because he and his wife have been there. You do not have to be a pastor to minister or help minister using this book.

By Nick Peters In the interest of full disclosure, I want to say at the start that I was provided with this review copy by Beckwith himself to see if I wanted him to come on my podcast. Rest assured, I do. Beckwith's book is not just a book I want to get in the hands of many Christians I interact with, but also in the hands of many atheists I interact with.Beckwith's main contention is that we have often misunderstood arguments and said that as long as we say that they are "religious" or have a religious motive, then that means we do not need to consider them as real intellectual arguments. This is simply false. It could be someone holds a position for religious reasons and it could even be that someone holds a position (Such as the wrongness of homosexual behavior) just because the Bible says so, but that does not mean that that is the only reason that there is or the only motive that there is.Something I like about Beckwith's book is that he tries to give everyone a fair shake. Even if it is a position that he disagrees with, he tries to give it a fair look. When looking at some court rulings, even if the ruling would be favorable towards his position, Beckwith can still point out why he thinks it is an unwise ruling. This is something that we should all learn from. Just because the conclusion agrees with us does not mean that the decision was the right one. You can make the right decision for all the wrong reasons.Some readers will also be surprised to find that Beckwith disagrees with Intelligent Design. I in fact would find myself closer to his position seeing as I think that we have married Christianity to modern science and what happens if this is explained another way? Wouldn't it be best to have our apologetic built on something that cannot be shown false by scientific discovery? Why not base our theism on metaphysical principles, especially since the question of God is not really a scientific question but a metaphysical one. (This does not mean it does not have ramifications for science, but the final arbiter is metaphysics.)Also, the reader will find some very helpful points on the issue of redefining marriage. This is one of the major issues of our time and Beckwith rightly shows that in reality, the people that are not being tolerant and not allowing liberty are more often the ones on the left. Beckwith has a great familiarity with the literature on both sides. One will also find similarity with the abortion debate as well.If there was one thing I'd like differently in Beckwith's books, it'd be that I'd like reading them sometimes to be more like listening to him speak. It's my understanding that Beckwith grew up in the Las Vegas area and knows about the comedians and if you hear him speak, it is absolutely hysterical. Andy Bannister has managed to pull off great humor in a book. It would be interesting to see Beckwith do the same.Still, this is a book that should be read by anyone interested in religious debates. As I said earlier also, Beckwith has the great virtue as well of wanting to treat the arguments of his opponents seriously as well. Beckwith is not just wanting to reach right conclusions, but wanting to reach them the right way and will settle for nothing less.In Christ,Nick Peters

By Leigh Hargrove What I love about Anita's book is that through the fictional character of "Vitality", we get 11 short stories about some great life topics: Joy, Humour, Your Inspirational Journey, Intuition, Power, Goals, Peace, Self Care (For Me), Wisdom...Her stories are realistic in that we get to learn that life's lessons can appear in the most unexpected ways! Her reflections will allow us to look at our lives a little differently and maybe "get" a few life lessons of our own along the way - and much more quickly than if we were left to figure it out on our own!At the same time, nice to read about someone else's journey and how they figured it all out in the format of short motivational, transformational and inspirational fiction stories around self-growth, transformation, personal growth and success!A great read for anyone who has big dreams, is driven to succeed and may need some encouragement in their journey to figure it all out: for example, a mother, wife, entrepreneur, business owner, friend, young woman and career-driven individual.

You'll learn a lot of information you just won't find elsewhere, OpenStack is simply amazing and blowing the wheels off the Vmware momentum that is finally losing it's steam, mostly because of the darn fees. The recipes in this cookbook are amazing and well thought out, and it won't be disappointing. I absolutely love the interface and how easy it is to get started, this has really helped with optimizations as well.

You should probably have at least experimented with Linux before as this is not a complete hand held experience. It likely goes more in depth in just the places you want it to like Postfix instead of Exim. Dovecot has a nice book by Peer Heinlein if you're needing to provide IMAP access.

Intensely engaging & human...would recommend to anyone By Ryan Gasbarro As a fairly infrequent reader of poetry, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself reading & re-reading Rod Drought's collection, "The Song We Left Behind" and finding joy in mining the depths of his poems. At the intersection of naturalism and nostalgia, "The Song We Left Behind" brought me many wistful feelings not only about my home in Arizona but, strangely, for places I had never been. A simple elegance in the writing style pervades Drought's relatable narrative poetry, which takes the reader from the depths of the Grand Canyon to frigid New England winters and finds beauty in every space. This collection is not only for poetry readers – anyone with a pulse is susceptible to being gripped by "The Song We Left Behind."

So, now that that's out of the way, allow me to provide a more objective review: This book is great! Seriously.While I know (some of) the people in this story, many of the events described were unknown to me. I certainly understand my mother a little better after reading this collection of anecdotal memoirs. However, I feel even if the people and the area were strangers to me, I would still enjoy this delightfully poignant story. I knew mom could write. But this book showcases what a great writing "voice" she has. Her descriptive writing had me wanting to fetch my own cold drink to escape the sweltering heat, itchy pox, and obnoxious sand spurs. (Those things really are as vicious as she makes them out to be!) My reactions while reading ranged from a knowing nod, to a snicker, to actually howling with laughter, and wiping away an errant tear or two.This is a heartwarming collection of stories that taps into a forgotten era in a likely-unknown locale. In many ways, it seems life was so much harder a generation or two ago, particularly in the south. But these stories and subsequent revelations of self, life, death, music, and love show that even when life is hard....it's basically simple. It's about family. Share this book with your friends and family - and hope that some day you have the good fortune to experience the kind of spiritual love and peace that mom finds in the course of this life-long journey of soul-searching. The story follows Camilla, a psychologist, fluidly moving from current day in her advanced age back to the past, revealing a life enriched by romance and strong friendship. Camilla is thoughtful, dramatic, and determined to live life by her own rules. When challenged by life threatening health issues late in life, she carefully explores her options, taking the reader along as she ponders how to achieve a dignified death without hurting those around her. Camilla’s life is not ordinary; the book resonates with her experiences of romance, friendship, family relationships, terminal illness, and ultimately, healing and joy.While the book touches upon some difficult themes, it is not a heavy read. It is thought-provoking and inspiring as the reader is drawn into Camilla’s engaging life.

It is about being there for someone and expecting nothing in return. It is about finding time for each other no matter what. It is saying no without having to explain why. It is knowing what someone feels and why.Friends are people without whom your life wouldn’t be complete as demonstrated in the portrayal of the characters in this book. They are the people who you know for ages, or even if you don’t you feel like you were born on the same day. They will always be by your side and will help you with any troubles. Sometimes even a friend can be closer to you than somebody from your family as seen by the unquestionable romance that was developed by Camilla and her dance partner Javier.The story brilliantly demonstrates that where there is great Love, there are always miracles. About the Author After flying fifty-three combat missions in World War II, ART SHAY joined Life magazine as a staff reporter. He went on to become one of America’s leading photojournalists. Sweet and Very Personal Story in Pictures By Talvi My Florence is a very personal story of Florence Shay, a "companionable, sexy, Jewish mother, elegant and always up to date, who blogged to 30,000 followers until her last days, the literary adviser to basketball players, governors, and rock stars, the loving, devoted wife; and resolute proponent of the written word." What makes the book unique is that Shay is an ordinary wife living an ordinary life around California and Chicago, 1940s to 2012. Her husband Art, whose resume includes a stint as Life magazine's youngest bureau chief and a career as a highly respected photojournalist, tells her story in images. Photographs of a life well-lived up until her death in 2012.At a slim 96 pages, I often wished for even more photographs than were presented. It is clear throughout what made photographer Art Shay an icon at Life Magazine - his images are the every day, the mundane, the everyday life. For photographers and photojournalists know, it is not about what's in the image, it's about the apogee of the moment at which the photographer clicks the shutter. Here, Shay beautifully captured the moments in wife Florence's life - her family, her pursuits, the memories they were making as they raised 5 children and then went on to grandchildren. The cover image is the first he ever photographed of the person who would be his life's companion.Cultural historians will no doubt appreciate the glimpses of mid century life in Chicago. From a brick row type home in Des Plaines, whose interior features ball clocks and slim legged tables. But also tidbits of life after World War II through to the turbulent 1970s. The images move from black and white to kodachrome color as Florence ages. Celebrity appearances in images by Eleanor Roosevelt, Studs Terkel, and Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins seem almost to disrupt the home glimpses - I kept wishing for even more glimpses of the ordinary life rather than the celebrity one.The Shays' may have lived a better life than many due to his work with Life (vacations in Hawaii in the 1970s, the Hacienda in Las Vegas in the 1960s) to have this be a book of the populist style. As well, there are interesting tidbits of the eras - images of briefcase and purse hidden cameras when Florence caught pictures of mobsters, for example. Or staged images of his family for Life articles. They create a bigger pictures of the Shays' life but I found them less interesting than the candid home images.I rate this four out of five stars because I honestly wanted more. There is some commentary but it is sparse and not every picture has commentary. Since a photojournalist is all about the moment, I loved the book the most when it was describing those moments and what prompted Shay to click the shutter when he did. There just wasn't enough of it.The images are somewhat chronological but do jump around quite a bit. Decades may pass in the blink of an eye, for example, and no matter how many images presented, it did feel like there are so many more that will never be seen that could have gone into this book.In all, a very personal story in which the life of a remarkable woman shines through brightly.Reviewed from an ARC.

An intimate view into an amazing woman's life By Chelsea George I actually had the privilege of meeting Florence Shay, and I know her husband Art for 38 years now. So I may be a biased reviewer, however I loved the book. It was so full of love and respect for this amazing woman. Art Shay has photographed world events, numerous racquetball tournaments (which is how we met), traveled the world, published books, had big shows, all kinds of fame and glory. But this little book is so sweet and intimate. I was really touched and will treasure it.
