Misty is completely open and honest in her story about her life. She gives the reader hope and that giving up is not an option. Her story is one of victory and proof that God is in control. He turns bad into good and he never leaves us. I would recommend this to anyone, but especially if someone is going thru rough times. Misty is living proof that belief in God can take you places you never dreamed you would be. Thank you so much, Misty for sharing your life with us and giving us all hope.

About the Author Anne Ford served as Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) from 1989 to 2001. Mrs. Ford has received many honors for her work, including the Lizette H. Sarnoff Award for Volunteer Service from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Humane Letters from Leslie University for her advocacy work for people with learning disabilities, and has spoken on this issue at numerous corporations such as JP Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Ford Motor Company. She has co-authored four books with John-Richard Thompson. The first book was "Laughing Allegra: The Inspiring Story of a Mother's Struggle and Triumph Raising a Daughter with Learning Disabilities". Tom Brokaw called this book "a gift for all parents" and Barbara Walters said, "It's an inspiring story that any parent can relate to." "On Their Own: Creating an Independent Future for Your Adult Child with Learning Disabilities and ADHD" was written for parents of adult children with LD. With a foreword by Sally Shaywitz, M.D., this book covers such topics as Employment, Social Issues, Estate Planning, and, for the parent, Learning to Let Go. The third book is "A Special Mother: Getting Through the Early Days of a Child's Diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and Related Disorders", with a Foreword by Judy Woodruff. This book was written in recognition of the role of the mother in the life of a disabled child, and to help all mothers deal with the emotional upheaval and confusion that comes with a diagnosis of LD or a related disorder. The first three books, "Laughing Allegra", "On Their Own" and "A Special Mother" were finalists for a "Books for A Better Life" Award. Anne and John have now written this fourth book, The Forgotten Child: "If She is Special, What am I?" Sibling Issues: When Learning Disabilities Cause Tension in the Home.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. this book is pure gold By Tina H. Sloan I have read all Anne Fords books beginning with LAUGHING ALLEGRA and found them immensely helpful. If you have a child with learning disabilities each of her books addresses different issues. The issues range from when you first get a child diagnosed, how to help them be in the right schools, how to help them live on their own, how to be a parent that is there and yet be able to let go. But to me these issues are life issues for anyone. I don't have a child with learning disabilities but I learned a great deal from her common sense approach to tackling problems of family living. THE FORGOTTEN CHILD her latest book deals with the other child in the family who isn't getting all the attention that the child with disabilities is getting. This book (as all the others) had me nodding in agreement and at times crying as she interviews different people who have had to not pay as much attention to the child without disabilities or even to the father as the child who has them needs so much attention. Believe me these books are pure gold

Horowitz Thank you Anne and John for including me on your journey that resulted in this wonderful book! I read it once and will read it again to get even closer to the children, siblings, parents and families who opened their lives, heads and hearts in the narrative. Even the title "The Forgotten Child" and the sub-title "If She is Special, What am I?" invokes the tension (and pain) that so often darkens the reality of families who face challenges posed by specific learning disabilities and related disorders of attention and behavior. Heart-felt and accessible narrative makes this a must read for parents and educators alike.

We live in a country where, as parents, we often do not know the special need exists...and, of course, we seemingly are "expected" to have "perfect" children (which is and could not be true, in fact, for any of us or any of our children. We live in a country where too often special needs are not noticed or detected for years, and years, and years. And we live in a country where people who are faced in their families with one special need, understandably use their energies only on that need. Were we to aggregate our collective energies on behalf of all children with special needs, we would have a mighty force working for progress.But there is help and hope -- truly good help and hope -- out there. One very good source is Anne Ford's new book, "The Forgotten Child." Honest. Poignant. This is a masterfully helpful resource -- a gift even -- for parents and families.

Reading this book makes it all too clear to see the complex and multifaceted problems that face women with children who are trapped in bad marriages, in a state of poverty, in a social-structure whose parameters don't allow or afford them the opportunity to escape mentally, physically or emotionally unscathed no matter how hard they work at it. This is a book about a real woman facing real life and that isn't always kind and it can't always be fixed with chocolate and cocktails. Jessica Vivian holds nothing back, and opens herself wide for the world to see and take away from it what they will; whatever inspiration, whatever spark of truth. The pages of this story hold more than the words on them.

Annie Mitchells words were written with a pain filled pen and at one time I believed no one could feel my own and I didn't care if anyone did feel it. In fact I don't want anyone to feel what I feel. But Annie Mitchell does and that gave me a very odd sense of comfort. The death of a child is almost unspeakable because it is not possible to describe the fallout of such a tragedy. After it happens, Mother's Day, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, and family gatherings hold a poignancy I wish on no one.Annie Mitchell offers a warm hand to hold in her book, A Mother's Loss, and I reached for it on every page.

Children are a gift from God and should be cherished and their innocence preserved. Self Love shines some light on how to preserve every child's innocence and how to keep them 'god-like.' What I liked most about this book is that it broke everything down into its own category, making it easier to understand and grasp. The author understands that we can't keep away outside influences. He instead highlights ways we can deal with the impact they have as to not affect our children negatively. This book is definately worth the purchase although it is short it has a vast wealth of information. Istvan L Deak definitely hit this one out of the ballpark.

God Exists In Your Child By Richard Reynolds The main thrust of this book is for you to better understand the idea that god exists in all of us, but especially our children. If you are better able to understand this, what the author calls the “Universal Life Force”, you will better be able to help your child gain self-esteem, strength and peace of mind. This is a short book but it does bring up some interesting perspectives on issues related to child rearing. Every parent or parent to be would benefit from reading it.

Russel doesn't sugar-coat his own experience with PTSD, but does tell his story with empathy. A very difficult thing for a writer to do. Anyone who doesn't know anything about PTSD would do well to spend time with this informative, short book which takes a highly personal account and makes the writer's journey a universal journey as well.

But How to potty train a toddler the loving way has all of the information I needed to do it all nice and simply. It breaks it down into several steps to help keep things a lot more manageable. It is not perfectly easy, but this helps the stress so much. Since the stress usually comes from not knowing what to do next. With this book you always will have the next step right there in your Kindle. I am so glad I bought this book.

It is easy to read and gets straight to the point concerning potty training. I followed the book closely and proven tips/advice worked like a charm! Yes, it was not as easy as you might expect it to be but the actual potty training part has been pretty close to stress-free. It was a very positive bonding experience for my daughter and me-rather than an emotional, trying experience. Worth every second! Buy this book! You will be so glad you did!

The information in this book is comprehensive without being overwhelming. The author makes potty training accessible and makes the reader feel like they really can do it without too much worry. I especially liked the guidelines about how to know when your child is ready to start and the difference in how to potty train a boy versus a girl. Having the boys learn to go while sitting first and then letting then stand when comfortable was something I had not thought of. If you are a parent with a young child, this would be a great book for you to buy.

This historically accurate book includes both suspense and love as we follow two soldiers during their journey through the war. I took my time, underlined, etc. and found her very authentic and real approach to life - with its joys and struggles - quite refreshing. As well, her ability to look at the Scriptures as guides in parenting (which includes approaches to our children, AND to ourselves) also quite freeing as well as balanced in their focus. Have purchased several copies to give to others, for I am convinced that we can gain wisdom from the Scriptures and from God, in learning about ourselves and in our relationships with our children, as well as others.

It goes beyond typescript and explains many important concept in object-oriented programming and JavaScript. I am a senior JavaScript developer and developed in action script 3 for many years so typing was not something new to me, but I was still able to pick up a lot of good information such as generators reflection and more.I guess my only negative comment , is that the author did not cover casting which is super important in oop, but the book still deserves five stars because it pre-much covers everything else and more.with angler 2 around the corner I'm sure this book is going to pick up an audience.well done.

Most graphics, illustrations, and screen snapshots in the PDF version are in color.Because "Learning TypeScript" contains both TypeScript-specific details and JavaScript-general details (TypeScript is a superset of JavaScript), the book is largely standalone, meaning that a person with only minimal JavaScript exposure is likely able to learn TypeScript from using this book. Even a person interested only in JavaScript (and not in TypeScript) would find the several JavaScript-general topics interesting because they are on current and near-future JavaScript features.

By Anonymous I don't think this is a quality software engineering book, much less one worth $50+. There are plenty typos and formatting errors, code examples copied and pasted across chapters and sections, and the code examples themselves are trivial.The book also purports to give some treatment to more advanced concepts like the JS Runtime, but not enough depth diagrams or examples are provided for, e.g., the prototypal inheritance section.Some parts of the exposition are just plain misleading or wrong - for example, claiming that "this" in a constructor function points to the object's prototype (p. 150), and not the instance itself. Er, what?There's nothing on writing your own declaration files - important if you're doing open-source.I was going to contribute to the errata, but decided I'm just going to return the book. To be fair, this is the author's first book, and as of this writing, it seems like he just recently graduated college and joined GitHub this year.I would recommend passing on this and using the official documentation instead plus auxiliary reading on decorators. That's a much more efficient path and won't set you back $50+.
